There are many ways to classify leaders; performance style outlook attitude etc.
One classification is to look at Optimists vs. Realists a lá Stockdale.
Optimists set great visions and plans for the future; they are often newsworthy and as such get lot of type space in business magazines.
They are great managers and leaders for the good times.
Realists are not so newsworthy but they are more likely to consistently deliver on targets. Realists often come across as naysayers before they get into senior leadership positions, and once there they are demanding of truth and accuracy.

This “Realistic Leader” newsletter is written for you as a Human Resources or Development Professional to give you another resource to give to the Managers and Leaders in your organisation to give them support, ideas, and new thoughts about what they do and how they do it.
